UIndy Graduation 2016
Nearly 1,400 University of Indianapolis students are completing their degrees between December 2015 and August 2016 at the home campus, and 79 more are graduating from UIndy’s partner sites in China and Central America. This year’s graduates hail from 30 states and 29 nations.

Guest Speaker - Steve Inskeep
A native Hoosier and graduate of Carmel High School, Inskeep is the award-winning host of NPR’s Morning Edition, the most widely heard radio news program in the nation. Known for his ambitious field reporting from the Mexican border to the Middle East, he is the author of Instant City: Life and Death in Karachi, a look at one of the world’s great megacities, and Jacksonland, a history of President Andrew Jackson’s long-running conflict with Cherokee chief John Ross in the 1830s. Inskeep also will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

Also an Indiana native, Steele is an internationally known recording artist, broadcast personality and stage and screen actress. She has been a frequent guest on American Public Media’s A Prairie Home Companion and appeared in the Robert Altman film of the same title. She can be heard on recordings by such artists as Prince, Mavis Staples and George Clinton, and she hosts the radio talk show Steele Talkin’, heard every Sunday night in 30 states and Canada. She is active on issues affecting women and children. Steele will perform a song during the ceremony.
Zink was a co-founder of Duke Realty Corp. before forming Strategic Capital Partners, a privately held real estate, operating, development and investment management firm whose projects include the redevelopment of Indianapolis’ Avondale Meadows neighborhood as well as UIndy’s new Health Pavilion and Greyhound Village apartments. Last year, he and his wife provided a major gift to support UIndy in launching the Gene and Mary Ann Zink Poverty Institute, which will address pressing social issues surrounding poverty while creating formative experiential learning opportunities for students.
